HOW TO INSTALL GIT IN LOCAL PC ?

Git is a distributed version control system, this program allows for non-linear development of projects, and can handle large amounts of data effectively by storing it on the local server.
This tutorial will cover some steps to install Git.
Step1: At first we install the dependent packages. Installing Git with apt-get is a quick and easy process.
            $sudo apt-get install git-core
Step2: After that you can download the latest version of GIT.
$wget https://git-core-googlecode.com/files   /git-1.8.1.2.tar.gz
Step3: After it downloads, untar the file and switch into that directory:
$tar -zxf git-1.8.1.2.tar.gz
$cd git-1.8.1.2
Step4: Run the following
$sudo apt-get install libcurl4-gnutls-dev libexpat1-dev gettext libz-dev libssl-dev
$make prefix=/usr/local all
$sudo make prefix=/usr/local install
$which git
/usr/local/bin/git
Step5: Check installation
$git –version
[If Git version in not show the result then restart the PC and install it again.]
